The article is spot on about using certain techniques in the wind, such as taking more, smaller steps toward the ball to adjust until the last moment of contact with the ball, and keeping the shots away from the lines. The lob is a great shot against the wind, and can be used successfully with the wind as well, not just because the wind can be used well, but also because the overhead is difficult to execute on a windy day.
As a former coach I used to talk at length to students about playing in the wind. High school and college players, who play the majority of the matches in the spring, need to get used to it, becasue it is almost always a factor.
You can’t control the wind, but you can control your attitude about playing in the wind. And you can’t magically make yourself better than a superior opponent, but you can make yourself have a better attitude in these conditions. And, this could lead to some big wins.
