With regard to performance enhancing definitions, it is too arbitrary, and in many cases contrary to factual data.
As a baseball player, a perfect example is Barry Bonds. He had one super year: the rest of the time, while he was a very good hitter, he was nowhere close to that one year. Why did the performance enhancement not work the other years? Many baseball players have had that one – in the zone – year!.
Roger Maris, hit 61 Home runs one year to break Babe Ruth’s 60 Hr record The most in any previous year: 39. And I could cite many others.
Yet everyone “knows” that Performance Enhancing drugs were responsible for Barry’s record, and he is denied Hall of fame status.
I do not like Barry (he is a jerk) but he belongs in the Hall of Fame for his lifetime record!
